Quad Elite hi-fi range

August 26, 2010 — Article

Quad has released full details of its new Elite Series hi-fi series. The full line-up includes the Elite CDS CD player (pictured, £800), the Elite Pre preamp (£850), the Elite Stereo power amp (£700) and Elite Mono monobloc (£650) as well as the Elite FM tuner (£600).

The Elite range will largely replace Quad’s 99 Series, which has been in circulation since 1999. The components retains some of the design elements from the older series but uses updated internal audiophile-class components including multi-layer circuit boards and highly specified transformers to deliver added clarity and definition.

The Elite CD-S CD player uses a Sony mechanism and Crystal 24-bit/96kHz DAC with upsampling. Tits sibling, the Elite Pre preamp comes with three line-ins, one tape loop and moving magnet phono input, though a moving coil version is also available. It’s designed to be used with either the 90-watts-per-channel Elite Stereo power amp or a pair of the 150-watt Elite Mono moboblocs. They can be connected via standard RCA sockets or Quad’s own AmpBus system.

All the above models in the Quad Elite range will be available from September, with the Elite CD-P CD player/preamp combo and a further stereo power amp to replace the Quad 909 intended to join the range before Xmas.
