CES 2011: New Sony Bravia TVs

January 08, 2011 — Article

Sony has revealed its range of new TVs with nine new models.

Unsurprisingly, the top models are full HD 3D-capable types with full LED backlighting. At the top is the HX923, which uses Sony’s latest intelligent peak LED for ‘dramatic contrast’, and also includes Motionflow XR 800 motion processing and Sony’s new X-Reality Pro 3D tech.

Following just behind are the HX823 and HX723, both of which come with built-in Wi-Fi and access to Sony’s online Qriocity service offering films and music, as well as services such as BBC iPlayer and LoveFilm.

The active-shutter 3D glasses that come with the new TVs have had a bit of a redesign and they’re now lighter, more comfortable, and also rechargeable.

Remote control apps for the iPhone and Android mobile phones are also on the way this year, as is an Opera web browser, which will join other handy online apps from Twitter and Facebook.

The new TVs will also be compatible with internet phone service Skype, though you’ll need to add an optional mic and a webcam to take full advantage of the technology.

You’ll also be able to record directly to a USB hard disk for the first time from Sony and there’s full DLNA and Wi-Fi Direct certification too.

Further down the scale are the NX723, with Sony’s slimline Monolithic design, alongside 3D support and Wi-Fi, then the EX723. Below that comes the 2D-only EX523 which retains the internet video and Skype capabilities.

The EX320 features edge LED backlighting and has built-in Wi-Fi, the Skype-capable full HD CX523 and the CX32BD which comes with an integrated DVD player.
