Sony’s STR-DN1030 AV receiver has been developed for the serious home cinema enthusiast, to deliver detailed, true-to-life cinema sound in the home. It captures the full dynamic range of modern movie soundtracks with 7.2 channels, packing 120W per channel. Both stylish and solid, the STR-DN1030 enjoys built-in wireless connectivity, but is also equipped with five HDMI ports, HD Digital Cinema Sound and Advanced Digital Cinema Auto Calibration technologies to deliver a powerful, precise, cinematic sound.

“We designed the STR-DN1030 so you can hear movies exactly as the director intended,” explains Jimmi Nolan, AV Receiver Product Marketing Manager at Sony UK. “To create true cinematic audio, the STR-DN1030 uses HD Digital Cinema Sound, a specialised technology developed by our Sony Pictures team from careful study of Hollywood sound stage recordings. Sony Pictures have won 12 Academy Awards for Best Picture, so they know about creating amazing quality sound for the movies.”

The STR-DN1030 allows you to play music from a PC or stream content from iOS devices with built-in AirPlay. On-demand entertainment can also be accessed through the Sony Entertainment Network, featuring more than 15 million songs, and internet radio from thousands of stations around the world.

Advanced Digital Cinema Auto Calibration optimises the surround sound configuration based on the speaker positions in your room. Sound can be tailored with a range of acoustic modes, from Jazz Club to Sport, even one that claims to recreate the soaring dynamics of the Berliner Philharmonic concert hall.

The STR-DN1030 works with the Sony Media Remote app to enable smartphone or tablet as a remote control. It’s available now for £500.
