LG Public Display

Following a period of market research indicating that demand in the digital-out-of-home (DOOH) market for HD large screen displays could receive something in the region of a 40% boost over the next eighteen months, LG has come up with two new solutions.

Both LG’s Public Display large screen and Interactive Whiteboard will exceed the current full HD with an ‘ultra HD’ resolution of 3840 x 2160px. Both measure 1.9m x 1.1m, with a screen size of 2.13m (84in).

Ultra HD operates at four times the resolution of full HD, using eight million pixels. The Public Display, intended for DOOH applications, features 500nit brightness and local dimming, which reduces power consumption by as much as a fifth by extinguishing unnecessary backlights. The Interactive Whiteboard, intended for schools and businesses, runs to 350nit.

LG’s vice-president and head of the company’s Public Display Division, Joon Jin, promises that the company’s strides in ultra HD large screen development will keep on coming: “Recognising the public display sector’s tremendous potential, we will remain aggressive in delivering new cutting-edge technologies that set the standard for the field.”
