We had so much interest in our recent article about the launch of the i-box Trax, we thought we should give you more details on its big brother Max, which is also now available. Like Trax, Max has a similar distinctive design and offers Bluetooth connectivity as well as NFC pairing technology for smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktop computers but packs a pair of 5cm full-range drivers, supplemented by a rear-ported 7.5cm low-frequency radiator for powerful bass, driven by a fully integrated, high-performance Class D amplifier that delivers 30 watts RMS.

Performance is enhanced by the inclusion of Bluetooth 4.0, with support for the superior aptX CD quality sound codec, A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) and EDR (Enhanced Data Rate). Frequency response can be individually tailored to suit the music and sound quality of the file being played, thanks to the easy-to-use bass and treble controls located at the back of the unit.

Although not a “pocket” model like Trax, Max is portable with a built-in rechargeable Lithium battery with product specs stating up to 4 hours playback from each charge, which is quite impressive given the demands of the powerful built-in amp. It can also be connected using the mains charger which is included in the pack. The pair of USB outputs turns Max into a portable power source to charge your smartphone or tablet.

NFC (Near Field Communication) technology delivers instant contact-free pairing with compatible devices. A touch-sensitive control panel and volume roller-wheel enable users to control their music independent of the source device, and a hands-free speaker-phone facility ensures additional flexibility when paired with a smartphone.

In addition, included is a 3.5mm audio cable from i-boxʼs own high-quality cable range to connect non-Bluetooth enabled music devices. RCA-phono inputs add further connectivity options for external source components.
