LG Gives an Overview of Their New OLED TV's (CES 2010)

January 10, 2010

Highlights

One of the new evolutions in TV production the OLED TV uses an organic layer around 2mm thick and offers low power consumption.

The OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) displays do not require a backlight to function therefore they generally display deep black levels and are thinner by design and lighter than LCD panels. They also naturally achieve higher contrast ratios than either LCD screens or the more recently developed LED backlight screens.

Their other attribute is that they have higher motion response time assisting in reducing fast moving artefacts associated with sport and movies.

The wide range of models and the commitment to design larger and more screens sees exciting developments for the future.
