Cambridge Audio new flagship Azur 851A stereo amplifier (CES 2012)

January 23, 2012

Highlights

The Azur 851A, which entailed two years of internal development in their London Research and Development center and should reach the market in March, integrates Class XD amplifier and 851C DAC/CD player/preamplifier.

The Azur 851A develops Cambridge Audio’s proprietary Class XD design, which delivers 2×120W into 8ohms, or 200W per channel into 4ohms. Two toroidal transformers are used, one each for the preamp and power amp sections, like twin monobloc amplifiers in one chassis, for low distortion and the optimum performance. It offers 2 balanced XLR analogue audio inputs and 8 RCA inputs. The front panel display is fully customizable.
