Furutech FP-1363 'high-performance' mains sockets

June 08, 2010 — Article

Japanese cable and accessory manufacturer Furutech has unveiled a new line of performance-enhancing 13-amp plug sockets for the UK market.

Available in both single and double socket versions, the Furutech FP-1363 features a nylon/fibreglass body and alpha pure copper conductors. Furutech’s patent pending clamping system can accommodate cables up to 5.5 mm2 and provides 17.142 per cent more contact area than conventional designs, apparently. Alpha phosphor bronze pin supports ensure good contact and handling characteristics too and the whole assembly is mounted in an ABS front plate with polycarbonate cover.

The manufacturing process includes deep cryogenic cooling of parts to bind the molecules together more tightly and allegedly improve electrical conductivity as well as a demagnetisation stage.

The FP-1363 is designed to be used with Furutech’s FI-UK1363, which the company claims is ‘the ultimate UK mains plug’ with a fireproof ABS body, eutectic copper alloy alpha conductors and a choice of either Rhodium or 24k gold-plated connectors. The FI-1363 is claimed to improve transparency, detail, dynamic range and bandwidth in hi-fi equipment.

The Furutech FP-1363 range is available now from £75 for a single gold-plated socket to £135 for a double rhodium plated socket.
