IFA 2010: Epson HD projectors

September 03, 2010 — Article

Epson has launched four new projectors, two of which feature the company’s 3LCD reflective panel technology at the IFA technology fair in Berlin.

The company claims its 3LCD reflective technology results in increased dynamic contrast ratios for deeper blacks and brighter whites as well as an ultra-fast response time to reduce blur and produce smoother moving images. Epson says the technology increases response time by up to 75 per cent over previous models for smoother motion and increases the aperture ratio by 40 per cent to further reduce inter-pixel spacing.

Epson EH-R2000

The EH-R4000 and EH-R2000 feature high dynamic contrast ratios of 1,000,000:1 (EH-R4000) and 500,000:1 (EH-R2000). Both include enhanced picture detail with an HQV (Hollywood Quality Video) processor and claim exceptional clarity with 1,200 lumens and an equally high white and Colour Light Output (CLO). Each comes with five colour modes to suit a variety of environments and applications.

At the more affordable end of the market, the EH-TW3600 and EH-TW3200 also include Epson’s 3LCD technology and offer full HD, 1080p resolution. The high colour light output stretches to 2,000 lumens for the EH-TW3600 and 1,800 for the EH-TW3200, so they should be viewable in daylight, with very respectable contrast ratios of 50,000:1 and 25,000:1 respectively.

The Epson EH-TW3600 and EH-TW3200 will be available from October for around £1,165 and £830 respectively. The EH-R2000 and EH-R4000 will go on sale in November for £3,000 and £5,000 respectively.
