IFA 2010: Klipsch Image headphones

September 08, 2010 — Article

Klipsch has announced a varied new range of headphones, including the company’s first on-ear design, a water-resistant model and a fashion statement.

The Image One on-ear ’phones (£130) use leather and high-density memory foam for the pads, offering comfort along with passive noise isolation. Usefully, the ear-cups also fold for storage in their accompanying carry case.

The cable has been made deliberately thicker to discourage tangling, and includes an omnidirectional microphone with echo cancellation and three-button remote, so that it can be used with mobile phones.

The Image S5i (£110) is a ‘ruggedised’ in-ear ’phone for sporty types, with moisture-proof earbuds and a rubberised remote/microphone with oversized buttons so that it can be used even with gloved hands.

The £39 Image S3 (£39) meanwhile is the fashionista of the group, available in four colours (pink, red, grey and green) and using a 5.8mm moving-coil micro speaker with controlled damping to improve the sound quality. They also come with three types of ear-tip for optimum comfort.

The Image S3 will be available from October, while the Image One and Image S5i will go on sale in November.
