Cambridge Audio has announced the Minx, a new micro speaker system.

Cambridge Audio Minx

The Minx consists of three 21cm2 forward-firing subwoofers with different power levels (200W, 300W and 500W) to match the diminutive Minx satellite speakers. All the subs have gain, phase and crossover controls, and include one-piece, aerospace-grade aluminium cones.

The Minx speakers can be used in 2.1 or full 5.1 surround systems. The Min10 satellite speakers measures 8cm2 and there’s also a larger Min20, which combines two Min10s in a single unit.

All the systems use high-end BMR (Balanced Mode Radiator) technology which combines the ‘bending wave’ principles from advanced flat panel speakers with the pistonic back and forth movement of traditional cone speakers. Cambridge Audio claims this system results in “significantly better bass response”.

The Minx speakers come in gloss white or scratch-resistant black, and are made from acoustically damped thermo polymer and extruded aluminium. They come with a basic wall bracket and table top stands, swivel wall brackets and floor stands are available as optional extras.

The Minx systems will be available from November with prices starting at £350 for a 2.1 system, rising to £500-£600 for a mid-price 5.1 set-up and £1,200 for the top-of-the-range system.
