Kaleidescape adds Blu-ray to home cinema servers

December 19, 2010 — Article

US-based home server specialist Kaleidescape has added Blu-ray capability to its film storage and playback system.

Kaleidescape Modular Disc Vault

The Modular Disc Vault burns, stores and organises your Blu-ray disc collection, which can then be played back through a networked Kaleidescape M500 or M300 player anywhere in your home.

It can hold up to 100 discs and Kaleidescape promises it will deliver “an unparalleled movie-watching experience”.

The system promises quick start-up, with Blu-ray films starting in seconds rather than minutes, and the Kaleidescape Movie Guide displays high-resolution artwork on your screen along with a brief synopsis of each film. The system can also be set up to adjust your room’s lighting, curtains and screen masking settings automatically.

You can use any number of Modular Disc Vaults in a Kaleidescape system, though each one will need to be connected to a separate M-Class player.

The Modular Disc Vault for Blu-ray is available now for £1,195. The M500 player costs £2,995 and the M300 player £1,995.
