Sonus Faber acquires Wadia

High-end audio brand Wadia Digital has been bought by Fine Sounds, owner of Sonus Faber and Audio Research.

Fine Sounds, which is itself owned by Milan-based private equity fund Quadrivio, has bought 100 per cent of True Wave, the firm behind Wadia Digital.

The company plans to use the acquisition to help it expand further into the high-end digital audio market. A spokesman said the buyout brings to Fine Sounds, “one of the most appreciated high-end audio digital brands while offering product extension opportunities in the digital lifestyle category”.

Wadia president and CEO John Schaffer will come with the package and joins the Fine Sounds board, while continuing to manage the Wadia brand. No staff changes are planned at Wadia at this time.

For its part, Wadia said that its acquisition will provide, “opportunities for building on Fine Sounds Group’s product development capabilities and financial resources” and that it intends to use Fine Sounds’ resources to expand its Series 1 premium lifestyle line.
