British speaker specialist Spendor plans to debut two new speakers at the Bristol Show from 25th February.

Spendor A3

The Spendor A3 (£1,295) is described as “an ultra-compact, high-performance floorstanding speaker” using drive unit technology and cabinet engineering derived from the company’s SA1 and A5 models.

Spendor’s own 15cm mid/bass driver includes a cast magnesium alloy chassis, ep38 polymer cone, phase correction technology, and a long-throw minimal thermal compression motor system. The company promises “a clear and natural midrange sound with excellent low frequency power handling”..

A 22mm wide-surround tweeter is linked via phase linear crossover network mounted on a non-resonant panel which includes insulated gold-plated terminals.

The Spendor A3 will be available in light oak, dark walnut, cherry and black ash veneers, while the plinth is in contrasting black satin lacquer.

Also on display will be a revised version of the legendary S3/5R model, originally based on the LS3/5A mini monitor used by the BBC.

The Spendor S3/5R2 (£850) is a two-way design with infinite baffle standmount and a new 14cm Spendor mid/bass drive unit fitted with an ep39 polymer cone, and a 22mm wide-surround tweeter.

Spendor’s thin-walled damped cabinet panel includes controlled bracing but the cabinet has no rear port, which makes it more versatile with near-wall placement.

It will be available in light oak, dark walnut, cherry and black ash natural veneer finishes.
