Panasonic brings BBC iPlayer to Viera range

April 06, 2011 — Article

Panasonic has announced that the BBC iPlayer will be available on all its 2011 Viera TVs with Viera Connect.

The iPlayer was previously available on Freesat Viera models and the company’s Blu-ray/DVD Freesat recorders but is now set to be rolled out across the entire range.

The upgrade means that 70 per cent of Panasonic’s 2011 TVs will get the BBC catch-up service, as well as a range of other services including games, social networking, music and video via the manufacturer’s cloud-based internet portal.

Other new music and video services available via Viera Connect include Ustream and SHOUTcast, joining YouTube, Acetrax and DailyMotion. New social networking apps added to Viera Connect include Facebook and CineTrailer.TV, joining Picasa, Skype and Twitter.
