Krell Cipher £12,000 SACD/CD player

US hi-fi specialist Krell has announced a new super high end CD player for £12,000.

Krell Cipher

The Krell Cipher SACD/CD player comes in a classic Krell machined aluminium
cabinet in silver or black with an advanced disc drive coupled to the latest Krell digital and analogue output circuitry.

Isolated mechanically from the underlying chassis, the drive mechanism uses composite mounts to minimize vibration. Special sound-dampening materials inside are designed to minimize mechanical resonances even further.

Krell’s customized disc drive firmware promises to enhance reading accuracy and drive mechanics while the separate SACD and CD laser heads are individually calibrated by hand for the most precise output levels.

All signals are fed into a custom designed Krell anti-jitter module that reduces jitter to vanishing levels. From there, signals are fed to a 24-bit/192kHz digital filter and then to a pair of balanced 24-bit/192kHz DACs.

By using balanced DACs, Krell claims the Cipher maintains a dual differential balanced signal from the DACs all the way to the output connections, lowering distortion and improving signal-to-noise ratio.

Independent power supplies for the digital and analogue sections maintain signal isolation between the separate circuit areas.

The Krell Cipher SACD/CD player is available from June, priced at £12,000.
