WireWorld HDMI cables get a new plug

July 29, 2011 — Article

WireWorld has announced an upgrade to the plug on its leading HDMI cable models.

WireWorld Chroma

The Chroma, Ultraviolet and Starlight models will receive the new design, which claims lower contact loss and a better grip on HDMI sockets.

The new plug has a thicker silver cladding on the contact pins, promising better conductivity than before. As a relatively soft metal, this also gives it the added benefit of enhanced mechanical grip.

It also has two ‘asymmetric locking wedges’ on the outer shell of the plug, as well as the standard locking dimples which all HDMI plugs have. WireWorld reckons this gives it a better hold and makes it much less likely to fall out.

The new plug will appear on Chroma, Ultraviolet and Starlight cables from September.
