In the four years since its launch, Cambridge-based Audiolabʼs 8000AP preamp/processor has built a reputation as an affordable home cinema processor with audiophile credentials. Its successor, the new Audiolab 8200AP incorporates enhanced circuitry whilst ensuring its audio performance retains the spotlight.

The 8200AP is a 7.1channel, HDMI 1.4 analogue/digital preamplifier and surround sound processor that focuses on simplicity, ease of use, and above all, sound quality.

The preamp/processor connects to a wide range of audio and AV sources via a bank of analogue and digital inputs and can deliver everything from pure two-channel stereo to full scale 7.1 channel surround sound. It’s specifically designed to deliver home cinema sound but to be equally adept in delivering music.

With a wide range of processing modes the Audiolabʼs performance remains clean, dynamic, detailed and true to the original source. It packs a considerable punch, but with subtlety and insight promising a high-end performance across all media.

With sturdy aluminium casework and a slimline physique, Audiolab says that its deliberate lack of unnecessary frills means this processor will date less quickly. The removable HDMI board even allows for possible upgrades as new developments become available.

The Audiolab 8200AP preamp/processor is available now in a choice of black or silver finishes for £1,250.
