Future Sound Lab launches FSL Zero Bluetooth headphones

New company aims to outlaw poor wireless headphone performance.

FSL Zero Bluetooth headphones

Future Sound Lab (FSL) is a Nottingham-based company founded in 2012 with a mission “to explore the boundaries of technology in providing premium quality headphones at an affordable price point.”

Despite the great convenience and freedom afforded by Bluetooth headphones, traditionally their sound just doesnʼt cut the mustard. With this at the forefront of FSL’s thinking, its collective brains toiled away in search of a solution. The harvest is the development of the FSL Zero – a pair of Bluetooth headphones that marries the sound quality and comfort of high-quality wired headphones with the convenience of a wire-free option. And at an affordable price.

The FSL Zero is a pair of lightweight, circumaural headphones, with soft cushioning to both the earcups and the adjustable headband, thus ensuring a secure and comfortable fit with a good level of sound isolation. The Bluetooth circuitry is incorporated within the headphones themselves and easy-to-access buttons are positioned on each earcup, controlling the key playback functions. A high-quality built-in microphone is also included.

Typically, Bluetooth headphones tend to sound lightweight and compressed, with poor clarity, curtailed bass and a general lethargy of expression. FSL promises that the Zero has a solid, substantial and expressive sound, with deep bass and a level of detail through middle and high frequencies that is usually only found in the better wired headphones.

The FSL Zero works in tandem with any Bluetooth-compatible playback device and all major smartphone types (iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Windows).

Distributed in the UK exclusively by iHeadphones, the FSL Zero is available from mid-June for £60.
