Standing six feet seven inches tall like a pair of Easter Island monoliths (duoliths?) from the future, the Wilson Alexandria XLF loudspeakers are not for those who take their music lightly.

Renowned for an idealistic approach to high-end loudspeaker design and performance, Dave Wilson’s latest creations are intended as a welcome addition to the Alexandria family, not as direct a replacement for the Series 2.

The XLF is physically larger with 14 per cent greater bass volume. Thicker cabinet walls and added bracing make for an even more inert enclosure. A newly developed passive bass management technology is also introduced.

All drive units are proprietary designs and manufactured in-house, including the new ‘Wilson Convergent Synergy Tweeter’. In all, you get six drive units per speaker: two bass drivers (15in and 13in), two midrange drivers, one front-firing tweeter and one rear-firing super tweeter. Wilson Audio’s trademark sophisticated crossover network ensures the drive units work in perfect unison.

Treble and midrange drive units are housed in individually adjustable modules – Wilson Audio’s ‘Aspherical Propagation Delay’ – giving precise driver positioning for optimal dispersion. The ‘Cross Load Firing’ port system for bass enclosure (hence ‘XLF’) allows front-firing or rear-firing configurations according to the requirements of the listener’s room.

Enclosures are fashioned from Wilson Audio’s exceptionally rigid and well-damped proprietary composites. Every speaker is custom made in Utah, USA and finished in Wilson Audio’s automotive-class paint facility to each customer’s bespoke colour requirements.

Wilson Audio Speakers are distributed in the UK exclusively by Absolute Sounds. The Wilson Audio Alexandria XLF is available now priced at £200,000 per pair.
