Onkyo’s newest iPod/iPhone/iPad Dock, the DS-A5, adds AirPlay functionality to Onkyo A/V receiver models and other selected audio products.



With a DS-A5, owners of current-model Onkyo AV receivers (or older models lacking a USB port or Ethernet connection) can enjoy AirPlay wireless streaming as well as a secure digital-to-digital docking connection to iOS devices. AirPlay also enables high fidelity wireless streaming of audio files from iTunes-equipped personal computers.



When the device is docked, a digital audio output can deliver signals directly to your receiver’s DACs for clearer, more expansive sound. A composite video output on the DS-A5 makes it easier to view photos and video on the big screen with room-filling cinema sound, while playback can be controlled via the remote as your iOS device recharges.


When the DS-A5 is linked to an Onkyo AV or stereo receiver via its RI (Remote Interactive) cable, the system powers up ‘from cold’ as soon as you select the content on your iOS device. RI also incorporates DS-A5 functionality into the main system remote controller. The DS-A5 can also be used to add AirPlay capability to non-Onkyo hi-fi & AV systems and standalone DACs, but without the the benefits of RI connectivity.
