Sonus Faber Launches Liuto Speaker Range

April 23, 2009 — Article

Distributed in the UK by Absolute Sounds the new Sonus Faber range consist of three models the Liuto Tower, a standmount called Liuto Monitor and the The multi-purpose Liuto Smart.

The speakers sit at the more affordable end of Sonus Faber’s portfolio, replacing the Domus range and slotting in beneath the existing Cremona and Homage lines, yet their sonic ability and sumptuous style is everything one expects of Sonus Faber.

Liuto Monitor

The range takes its name from the Italian word for ‘lute’, the instrument that inspired the curved shape of the speakers’ cabinets. The shape is not only pleasing to the eye, it also greatly enhances the acoustic properties of the cabinets in which the speakers’ drive units are housed, ensuring excellent stiffness and the minimisation of sonically deleterious resonances and standing waves.

Liuto Smart

All three models share custom-built drive units, including a 25mm fabric dome tweeter and 150mm polypropylene fabric cone main driver, while the Liuto Tower adds a 220mm bass driver with an aluminium/magnesium alloy cone.

Liuto Tower

The Liuto Tower and Liuto Monitor are finished in a luxurious combination of goffered black and high-gloss black piano lacquer, with black leather covering the front baffle. The Liuto Smart sports wrap-around black leather, with goffered black panels at either end.
