Munich High End Show: Audiolab 8200 range

Sound & Vision Bristol Show : Photo Report highlights

There were crowds of visitors again this year at the Sound & Vision Bristol Show to see first hand the latest in Hi-Fi and Home Cinema as well as integration and numerous other related products. This is the 19th year for this event, which is the first major exhibition on the calendar in the UK, to be followed by CEDIA UK in June and What Hi*Fi? / Stuff in November (see our Special Reports Section as well as our Video Clips).High-end is the key word again so don’t miss the Meridian 17,000 £ D-ILA technology projector or the 1080p projectors on demo from ProjectionDesign (above) and Sim2.On the high-end was Linn, as ever, and when speaking of speakers this year, the Nucleus Reference 3.1 from Anthony Gallo (photo below), at 2995 £ a pair was a very original design that caught our eye.Also for those up-market, not to say almost unlimited budgets, there were the Quad 2905 (6,000 £) and Quad 2805 (4,500 £) electrostatic loudspeakers. The key attraction at Denon was the unveiling of their (photo below) new receiver AVR-2807 (800 £) as well as showing the Denon AVR-4306 AV receiver (1,500 £). Also a big attraction was the Denon the high-end universal disc DVD player, DVD-A1XVA. AudioLab (photo below) had its 7-channel power amp, 8000X7, on display (you may enjoy our video clip interview last November, at the time it was a scoop) with a price of £1,500 as well as the 8000AV processor. Judging by the crowds, the KEF KHT3000 series looks to be a, or THE, big upcoming success story, combining quality with a very reasonable price, offering a speaker system that will fit in the lifestyle and the “normal” global Home Theater budgets of many households. CES 2006 in Video : AudioLab, Mission, Quad and Wharfedale

AudioLab, Mission, Quad and Wharfedale are all prestigious "Very British" brands distributed by International Audio Group, IAG. Mission had on demonstration their soon to be available 5.1 M-Cube system, Wharfedale was showing their new NXT technology, AudioLab the 8000 line, and Quad their full catalogue.
