On the IFA show in Berlin, Texas instruments has introduced an enhancement to its DLP projection technology that enables TV sets to display 3D images. Mitsubishi and Samsung are among the first OEMs to implement the technology in their products, TI said.
Texas Instruments, leaders in video projection technology, are developing a DLP (Digital Light Projection) ‘pico-projectors’ prototype that is small enough to fit on your fingertips, and could eventually be used in portable devices such as mobile phones, digital cameras, and music players, to allow images to be projected just as full-size video projectors do now.
Boasting a whopping 12 000:1 contrast ratio (yes you read that correctly !), this new “Full HD” DLP video projector from Sharp is for the “high-end-happy-few” with the announced price tag for the XV-Z21000 in the range of 9,000 € plus the taxes in Europe. But let’s dream a bit anyway with the specifications.
Texas Instruments truly lives up to their slogan: 1080p So Real as the creator of the DLP technology that is the number 1 micro display supplier. As you can see in our clip, on their extensive stand 1080p is clearly the actual rising star, but visitors could also get a preview of the new generation DLP 720p.
