CEDIA CEO Utz Baldwin discusses the benefits of the CEDIA network and the importance of teaching and understanding the needs of its members.

CEDIA is a world wide organisation with around 4000 members that is split into 3 zones to assist the communication to local areas and knowledge distribution. The primary function of any association is:

  • Advocacy; Speaking on behalf of its members for issues of legislation and marketing and outreach to industry partners, and
  • Access; Getting our manufacturing members together with the ESC members and giving them the knowledge to train staff members to move businesses forward towards profitability and stability.

CEDIA University now has five industry-specific colleges by theme; Technical, Design, Project Management, Customer Relationships and Business and within these are hundreds of courses available to its members. Training sessions are organised at the CEDIA EXPO events as well as extensive “on the road” locations in addition to a certain number on line for E-learning.

Being a central area for technology and education CEDIA are setting standards so that the consumer can buy with confidence knowing that all CEDIA members have a standard level of knowledge that they can trust.

With more changes planned towards helping their members CEDIA continue to strengthen the organisation and the knowledge available in all areas of business development.
