Cabasse and the business’ new owners, AwoX, are enhancing the functionality of its popular Stream range of streaming audio products with the launch of the multi-function StreamCONTROL app and the addition of Spotify. The new app brings greater control of high fidelity digitally stored music, control of AwoX lighting products and the promise of future expandability.
AwoX (Euronext – FR0011800218 – AWOX), a pure player in connected objects and Smart Home technologies, has announced the acquisition of 100% of the shares of French company Cabasse from the Canon Group.
In the majestic surroundings of the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich, CEDIA (Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association) revealed the winners of its ninth annual CEDIA Awards, which celebrates design, installation and integration excellence in the home technology sector. The black tie gala with an audience of over 300 guests from the residential custom installation, interior design and architecture worlds attended this special annual event. This year there were more than 150 impressive entries from 16 different countries competing for the prestigious CEDIA honours in 17 categories in addition to 3 special awards.
Devialet’s first product, the D-Premier launched in 2010, created quite a stir in the hi-fi industry by introducing the company’s unique ADH® (Analogue Digital Hybrid) technology. Now the company has announced a major new firmware release (v7.1) which introduces a host of improvements to both performance and functionality while including their SAM (Speaker Active Matching) technology, which is sophisticated digital processing that enables Devialet components to be precisely matched to a particular pair of speakers.

HIGH END 2014 in Munich showed significant growth again to reach 18,000 visitors, double that of 10 years ago, of which about one-third were from the trade. This year’s edition welcomed 452 exhibitors showing 900 different brands. As ever, we attended the show where there were numerous product launches and remarkable demonstrations. Here a first part showing just a few of the highlights.

The Waterfall Audio flagship speaker Niagara is now using platinium glass to enable them to be perfectly coordinated with the other speakers in the range for those clients wanting to create a home cinema system in beautiful glass using the Victoria or Iguascu as surround speakers. Watch the video to admire that Waterfall has also reduced the thickness of the glass down to 10 mm, as well as, particularly, the quality of the bevelled glass horn tweeter that takes more than 10 hours to achieve.
Cabasse unveiled at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2014 the new multi-room synchronised playback facility for its range of Stream players and access to over 30 million tracks from Deezer, allowing users to easily start playing via their smartphone their favourite music wherever they are throughout the home. The partnership with Deezer means that Cabasse offers an attractive alternative to other multi-room solutions, including long-standing market leader Sonos, while producing high quality music playback which is a cornerstone of the Cabasse philosophy.
Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) opened the doors this morning for the next three days on the 2014 Edition which promises to be the biggest and best ever. Before looking at the details of new products and some of this year’s innovations, we feel it is important to get a bit of perspective and give a mega “Hats Off” to the partners behind this Trade Event that started in 2004, and, in particular, to Mike Blackman, the Managing Director, and all of his staff. If all our companies had growth rates like this we would be more than ecstatic. A few numbers….
In today’s fast-paced world full of change, preserving traditions seems to have gotten a bit lost by some, but not at McIntosh. On the outside, the MA8000 integrated amplifier has the iconic “McIntosh Blue” Watt Meters that have become the signature image of this mythical brand since they were first created over half a century ago. However, on the inside of this new flagship model we find a 300 watt per channel amplifier combined with a full-functioned preamp in one space-saving unit as well as many modern technology innovations.
Noel Lee, CEO of Monster Audio, presented at CES the 750+ watt, 10-speaker custom-designed audio system that they developed for the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster which is controlled by an Android-based wind-shield mounted touch-screen with dashboard, door, and headrest-mounted speakers. Well you say OK the car is beautiful (should be with a 3.3 mio € price tag) and the system sounds great (you can do a lot when you spend about 36,000€) but why write about this for normal human beings? We follow closely what Noel Lee does as he is a real visionary with marketing savvy, from cable to when he jumped into headphones at a good time with a strategy that has proven to be a big sales success.
