Going against the grain, Roberts has announced two new analogue-only radios with the Classic 996 and Classic 997.

Both portable models offer LW, MW and FM wavelengths but absolutely no DAB. Each uses the same dial tuning system and has an angled top to make it easier to view the LED info screen though the larger 997 also adds a tone control and sliding station indicators.

The larger model also benefits from a bigger speaker and runs on C-type batteries (the 996 uses AAs) so it can play for longer when unplugged from the mains.

The Roberts Classic 996 and Classic 997 are available now in either black or white, priced £20 and £30 respectively.
