Sony’s latest Walkman is the water-resistant NWZ-W260 Sports Walkman.

It looks like nothing much more than a pair of earbuds, and is 25 per cent lighter than previous W players. It should give you eight hours of continuous play and when you’re finished it clips together for easy carrying.

The water-resistance bit allows it to cope with the sweat generated by your jog or gym workout and will apparently continue working in the shower, but don’t expect to go swimming with it.

It will sync with iTunes, PlayStation 3, or you can simply drag and drop tunes from your computer. Sony’s Zappin song search is on board, which plays a snippet of each song as you browse.

The Sony NWZ-W260 Sports Walkman should be available at the end of July.
