Technisat HDFV Freeview HD receiver

German electronics manufacturer Technisat has announced its first Freeview HD recorder, the HDFV.

It offers 1080p upscaling, an eight-day EPG, low standby power and a three-year manufacturer’s guarantee. It can also be used to record programmes to an external hard disk drive, connected by USB.

It can connect to a home network using a fixed connection or wirelessly with an optional Technisat WLAN adaptor so movies, music and pictures can be streamed directly from the PC or NAS to the TV. Technisat says it expects to carry BBC iPlayer and ITV Player at some point in the near future.

Universal plug and play connectivity means it should work with all operating systems and also offers the opportunity to extend the playable file formats via ‘on-the-fly’ transcoding from supported servers.

The HDFV is ‘DVRready’ to enable live pause, timeshift and recording of programmes to external hard disk drives or memory sticks via USB port. Recordings can also be edited to add bookmarks, copy or delete sections of video or rename and files can then be transferred to a PC or NAS for storage.

The Technisat HDFV will go on sale in mid-July for around £150.
