Specialist speaker manufacturer MartinLogan has revealed its new Montis hybrid electrostatic speakers, the latest in its ‘reserve series’ range.
The Montis uses advanced MicroPerf technology to increase the radiating area of its CLS (Curvilinear Line Source) electrostatic transducer, giving it almost twice as much exposure of the diaphragm’s surface as a standard, same-size electrostatic speaker.
Smaller than most comparable electrostatic speakers, the Montis measures 150×32cmx46cm and weighs 26kg.
It uses an “extremely precise” 24-bit Vojtko DSP engine with a powerful 200-watt class-D amplifier to deliver low frequencies all the way down to 29Hz.
It will be available in three real-wood, hand-rubbed finishes – Black Ash, Dark Cherry, and High-Gloss Black Cherrywood.
The MartinLogan Montis speakers go on sale this month with prices starting at around $9995 (£6,500).
