Optoma has unveiled an add-on for its projectors that allows them to display 3D material.

Optoma 3D-XL projector adaptor

The new 3D-XL projector adapter connects between a 3D source and any 3D Ready DLP projector for a big screen fully immersive experience that is just not possible with the small screen of a 3D TV.

It’s compatible with 3D broadcast signals such as Sky 3D, 3D Blu-ray players and 3D games from the Sony PS3, and can be used with the any of the 14 compatible models in the Optoma range as well as other DLP Link 3D compatible projectors from Acer, Benq and others.

The 3D-XL comes with a single pair of lightweight second generation Optoma ZD201 3D glasses, designed specifically for it.

Justin Halls, Head of Product Management at Optoma Europe commented, “The huge, greater than 100in, 3D projected images in the home provide a fantastically immersive experience that is just not possible with the small screen of a 3D TV and amazingly the total cost of this jaw-dropping 3D experience is a fraction of the cost of 3D TV’s!”

The Optoma 3D-XL projector adapter will be available from the beginning of January 2011 for £250.
