Optoma has announced another 3D projector with the ThemeScene HD83.

It follows the HD33 announced last week and claims to offer best–in-class colour saturation, as well as 1600 ANSI Lumen brightness and 50,000:1/700:1 peak/ANSI contrast. Optoma guarantees that image and colour quality will remain as new for at least five years.

The latest version of the company’s PureMotion4 frame-interpolation processing is on board, along with advanced lamp-pulsing technology that allows every frame to be analysed with the lamp adjusted accordingly for the best colour and minimal power consumption from the lamp.

You can choose between five preset colour gamuts – HDTV (Rec 709), EBU, DLP Cinema, SMPTE-C and Native for the best colour option and manually tweak the intensity and X/Y coordinates of primary and secondary colours to suit your taste.

It’s designed to fit into existing installations as an upgrade and comes with a full range of analogue and digital video inputs including two HDMIs.

For the 3D element it comes with two pairs of Optoma’s own 3D-RF glasses, which use Wi-Fi to connect to the projector. Optoma says the technology helps to avoid interference and synchronisation drop-outs.

The Optoma ThemeScene HD83 is available with full-function remote control handset and a smaller credit-card-sized mini-remote for £2,400.
